| SITE NEWS The off-again, on-again relationship with links-to-you is on, again. My Webalizer statistics have shown a decrease in hits from Google, which threatened delisting for sites that used "link farms." Turned out that my stats showed that Google wasn't delivering traffic. Links-to-you, however, was. Just can't argue with those stats! Slowly, but surely I'm cutting out the chaff on this site. Turns out there was quite a lot! It was pointed out to me that site owners expect visitors to read all the way to the bottom of a page. Site visitors, however are looking for specific information, then they're outta here! Clicking is preferred, not scrolling. I'll try to remember that! Meanwhile, I'm getting my first taste of chat at the library. Didn't think I'd have time for it, but it is all over the place and I'm gradually adjusting to the medium. |

LOCAL NEWS It's nice to have weather. Some places don't. Last time I wrote, I remember talking about floods. Now, it's drought that is the big news. If we don't get rain soon, I'm afraid you'll be reading about the great forest fires of the Northeastern US before long! But it's not all bad news. Living next to a dehydrated bird sanctuary still has its delights. Our dog flushed out two woodcocks, a first for my life list (which exists only in my mind), and I also saw my first large snapping turtle! This gardener's enthusiasm has been tempered by the drought. I'm using the contents of window boxes to mulch around garden areas in order to conserve as much moisture as possible. Hopefully, this is a short-term sacrifice for a long-term gain. Hope your garden is doing better! |
